Character History
Full Name: Damon Walker
Age: 19
DOB: 06/06/1866
Nationality: Caucasion
Origin: Germany
Gender: Male
Family: Unknown
Occupation: Mutated Person and Magician
History: Damon was born to a young couple in Germany. His mother was an actress and gypsy who used her charm and musical talent to bring in extra money while his father was a magician. The man was a horrible presenter of his tricks, unable to hold the attention of a crowd to save his life, though he persisted the trade religiously. While they traveled in attempt to gain popularity for his father’s performances, Damon met many people, but never cared to remember them. They hardly ever stayed in one place for more than a week before moving on. Finally, around the age of fifteen, Damon’s family had traveled through Paris, and the teenager slipped away from his parents to find an amazing theater.
This theater held grand performances of actors in plays, entertainers of comedy, and even weavers of magic. The magicians beautifully performed their art with amazing talent. It almost seemed real at times, but Damon’s eye could always catch the trick as he watched. After the performance was completed, Damon introduced himself to the magician and asked if he could be an apprentice. He now was highly interested in the trade, and would very much like to perform it himself.
The magician decided to take Damon in, and he taught the young boy tricks here and there and let Damon figure others out on his own. Then, one day a couple years later, he wandered down into the lower levels of the theater to find a laboratory. There were many scientists who were performing experiments, mostly on rats or mice, some on bigger animals such as dogs and chimpanzees. As he was looking around, one of the scientists found Damon and asked him if he’d like to volunteer for an experiment. The man said that he would pay Damon for his time, a decent sum for simply sitting in a chair for a while. Agreeing, Damon let the man experiment.
Days after the tests, injections, and other forms of experimentation, Damon began to notice his eyes were quickly becoming more and more sensitive to the light. He saw in the mirror that his pupils were growing with each day, until they had completely overtaken the color in his eyes. Damon wasn’t able to look at light anymore without covering his eyes with something. Several times he had temporarily gone blind from the extreme sensitivity of his eyes, and finally the magician that had taken him in had some sunglasses made for Damon. They were made to be much darker than normal ones, so dark that he himself could barely see through them, but when Damon put them on, they worked perfectly.
As the weeks moved on, Damon soon found his body temperature was rising and falling rapidly and occasionally it produced a thick black smoke. Luckily he was usually alone when this happened, but then one day when he was on stage in front of an audience, the smoke enveloped him and caused him to vanish from view, just to reappear on the other side of the stage. The crowd was aghast at the performance and they mostly believed it was just another of his trick, only perfectly displayed, so Damon decided to pull it off as one, and bowed to end the show right away. When the young man continued to displace himself through the smoke randomly, he was able to learn how to control it and also control where he displaced himself to. It helped tremendously when he was running out of ideas for his magician’s act, and he used it to keep the crowd’s interest up.
The charm that he must have gained from his mother was able to get the crowds to keep coming back for more entertainment from him. He seemed to be able to mesmerize people with the wave of his hand, the flick of a finger, and then the magic of a trick. Now, it was even easier, since he was able to once in a while perform what seemed to him to be real magic. As time went on, he learned how to displace objects that he touched as well, either with his own displacement or simply by itself.
About a year after the experimentation had taken place, when he was the age of eighteen, Damon found he was able to manipulate the smoke and shape it. One day, he accidentally shaped it into a large ring, and then the smoke changed into the charcoal grey ring that he had been thinking of. The mysterious ability he had continued to manifest and he found he was able to conjure items with it simply by thinking about it and weaving his hand through the air like a spell. It was real magic, and as he wove this into his act, the crowd enjoyed it.
Appearance
Picture:
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 154lbs
Hair: Black, short
Eyes: Pure Black
Appearance/Clothing: Damon is a slender young man with midnight black hair that is short and brushed back almost into a bunch of little spikes. His eyes are pure black from the pupils having grown to completely cover the lens. His face is smooth and thin, with somewhat hallow cheeks and clean shaven features. Over his eyes, Damon wears black polarized sunglasses that completely cover them. Down his slender body, Damon wears a long black duster that sways openly over his long sleeved, black polyester shirt that he keeps buttoned up to the third button from the top where a white undershirt is visible. His black shirt is tucked into black pants that are belted at the top with a black leather belt, which contains a silver buckle. Covering his feet he wears black silky socks that are hidden beneath the black pants and his black shoes.
Distinguishing Marks:
---
For the Paid Experiments:
Mutation: Smoky Teleportation, Minor Matter Manipulation
Description:
Smoky Teleportation: Damon is able to increase the temperature of his body to extreme heights to where it produces thick black smoke within milliseconds. With this smoke, he is able to blend his molecules into the smoke, spreading them out and then instantly teleport to anywhere from a few feet away to a mile away, where a cloud of smoke will instantly welcome his particles back. Also, he is able to teleport objects away as well without the need of teleporting with them.
Limitations: Damon is only able to teleport up to a mile away, and may only teleport himself and/or objects and/or people that he is making physical contact with. When teleporting, Damon is unable to breath as he moves to another spot, but usually this only lasts for half or less than a second. So far he has only tried to teleport one person at a time with him, and he has teleported only objects he is able to hold without himself, but never a person without himself. In his experience, it seemed that the heavier the object, the less of a precise landing he was able to make, so he tends to stick to lighter objects when teleporting them.
Minor Matter Manipulation: Through the use of matter manipulation, Damon is able to manipulate the smoke he creates into shaping into small, handheld inanimate objects, and then causing them to take the form of that object. Almost all of the objects Damon creates have a smoky tinge to it or are black or silver.
Limitations: Damon can only create inanimate objects and may only use the smoke he creates from his body to use this ability. As the smoke he has created has reached scorching temperatures, it is much easier to manipulate and seems to be the only thing he has been able to manipulate. While it may be very fast, almost instantaneous, it does require intense visualization, so Damon has to have already created the object before to be sure he knows how to make it, or he has to take longer to form the object. The first time he creates an object, he must research it in depth or know every detail of the object.
---
Personality:
Description: Damon has a rather sadistic yet childish personality. His mind continuously has devious thoughts running through it. Through his sneaky and deviant mind, he is easily able to fool an audience, especially since publicly he is constantly charming. Made to mesmerize, Damon has learned to charm audiences of one or many through the use of his words and artistic magic tricks, and even a little real magic here and there.
Weaknesses:
-Damon’s strength is rather lacking for someone his age.
-Has minor insomnia (he can only sleep for up to three hours, and that’s on a good night)
-His pupils have chemically been grown greatly, covering the rest of the color in his eyes, so if he’s not wearing his dark, polarized sunglasses then any light could temporarily blind him.
Strengths:
+Damon is very agile and quick, as if it were part of his mutation he seems to be enhanced in these aspects.
+Quick to react to anything
+A great mathematician
Rping
Synopsis: Damon is moments before one of his shows, but out of his nervousness can't find his glasses.
Rules:
1. Must be at least four paragraphs. Five sentences each. How many words doesn't matter.
2. Use correct grammar and puncuation. Mispelling doesn't count, but too much bad grammar won't let you get accepted.
3. This counts as a major way of determing whether or not you are good for a certain part. We want your rping to be as well as your character.
Sample Rp: The room was dark, without a source of light from anywhere at all. Inside though, a man sat at a desk with a quill in his hand, scratching away at a piece of parchment. The ink slid off of the quill swiftly in a motion that made symbols and such. Words were written onto the paper in artistic handwriting, Calligraphy as some called it, but not quite there. He was writing fast, knowing his show was going to start soon, but he hadn't completely figured out the routine he was going to perform.
Why was this so hard for him? It should have been a cinch by now. Make the easier ones at the front, the harder ones at the end. Plain and simple, but he just couldn't decide what acts he was going to perform. Behind him, he heard a light knocking. Dammit, he thought as his black eyes threw themselves to the side. He had taken his sunglasses off in attempt to loosen up his headache. Gazing around his table, he didn't see them though. "Just a minute," he said quietly, forgetting that whoever it was probably couldn't hear his quiet voice outside the doorway.
The young man stood to his feet, pushing the chair back with his legs as he looked across the desk again. Still he didn't see them. Turning, he looked to his wardrobe and began to make his way over. He sifted through the uniforms, all shady or black, but he still couldn't find them.
"Is anyone in there?"
Damon rolled his eyes at the muffled voice. He wasn't going to be able to walk out there without his glasses. It was possible that he'd go blind if he did, and he couldn't afford that right now, now with his show starting so soon. Giving up his search through the wardrobe, he swiftly turned around, his long duster swishing to catch up with him, and he stepped toward the other side of the room. Everywhere his gaze fell, he couldn't see the glasses, but then after his second step, he heard a crushing sound like glass breaking beneath his foot.
No! he shouted in his head, looking to the floor. As he lifted up his foot, he saw beneath it the black sunglasses that now had no lenses and sprawled out like a snake and beneath it the crushed glass could be seen. "This can't be happening to me," he breathed as he let his foot fall to the floor next to the glasses. Damon raised his right hand in front of him and brought it into an open fist, as if he were holding something. Inside of it, his palm began to produce a thick black smoke that swayed and moved, forming itself into the shape of glasses, folding and filling itself in and bending into small arcs at the end. Quickly the smoke took the solidity of real sunglasses, that were exactly like his first ones.
He shoved them onto his head and moved toward the curtain that hid the light outside from his room. Pushing the red velvet to the side, he looked out to see the young girl he had met the day before walking away. He smiled at her back and asked, "You knocked?" while stepping out into the hall. The velvet curtain swished back into place, once again hiding the light from the room.
