Beneath the theater that many go to every week, simply to see performances done by actors and magicians, there is much more than a costume rack or props stand. Down into the basement of this theater, a great laboratory was built for experiments that could possibly be considered illegal in any nation. In this laboratory, an experiment has begun, an experiment including genetic mutation.
The Project was begun in 1882, using animals as their primary subjects. Their main substance in this project was Francium Monoxide. Using the element that was named after their own country, these scientists have put a use to the simple pleasures of water, and turned it into something much more. By mixing this Francium alkali metal with the Hydrogen Monoxide that we drink to fill our thirst, scientists have produced Francium Monoxide, the "Evolutionizer". After coming up with this serum, they began to inject it into animals such as dogs, rats, and other small animals of the like.
As time moved on and tests were done, they found that the animals experimented on would change greatly depending on the amount of serum injected. Some animals would begin to shed all their fur, while others would change colors or become scaly like a reptile. Their efforts proved to be somewhat fatal with the rest though. The animals that had been injected with too much serum for their body to handle died a painful and horrible death.
A year of experimentation with the serum continued into 1883, when their first human experiment came down to meet them. Damon Walker, a magician that had been acting in the theater above them, had wandered in. One of the scientists noticed the young man and paid him a lump sum of money to allow them to inject the serum. After a few tests before injection, they measured the serum to where they believed it was a perfect amount for his weight and height. The initial injection seemed to have no more effect than to turn the immediate surroundings of the spot to a somewhat dark gray color that spread through his veins momentarily and faded back to normal. Believing that the man was simply immune to the effects, they allowed him to leave with permission to come back down should anything unnatural arise in the future.
The young man, about two weeks later, came back down complaining that the lights were continuously getting brighter and brighter to him until his sensitivity to the light was unbearable. As the scientists noted this, they crafted a pair of glasses that were too dark for normal human eyes to see through, but they fit perfectly for Damon, for the young man's pupils had grown too large, possibly as an effect of the serum, and allowed him to see through pitch black areas.
As time grew on, they acquired more and more humans to experiment on, paying them each a decent amount of money for their time and their secrecy. Many of them came back with random changes in their skin, others came back claiming they were able to do paranormal activities such as move objects with their minds, start fires with their bare hands, and even fly into the air with a simple jump.
Studies from these scientists show that the Francium Monoxide was capable of mixing into the blood of the human body and adding another gene to their DNA. This gene, they've decided to name the Fr2O gene, since it is what they believed caused it. As this gene manifests inside of the humanoids that had been injected, it starts to quickly take over the rest of the genes and changes them and manipulates them to how the Fr2O gene sees fit. Almost as if it were alive, the gene slowly takes over the humanoid's body and either destroys is, changes it into a monster, or enhances it to an incredible evolution.
