Mirela stepped into the church, her green eyes squinting to focus in the abrupt change of lighting. It was dim, yet beautiful, it's painted glass windows filled with tributes to Jesus and the Virgin Mary. Candles spilled their faint light into the large church, and reflected off the small stone sculptures of Jesus, Mary, and various apostles and prophets spread throughout the room.
She pulled her hat further down on her head, glad for the relief from the windy outdoors, where the hat threatened to fly off at any moment.
The small seventeen-year-old walked up to the front, where a large cross hung, shrouded by candlelight. Mirela drew a cross on her chest and bowed her head respectfully. "Heavenly father..." she murmured, closing her eyes. Then, retreating back to one of the pews, she rested her forhead on the back of the seat in front of her and sighed. Forgive me, for I have sinned...
